SOCCER PICKS UP ANOTHER CONFERENCE WIN

Soccer picks up another conference win
The Lady Blazers travel to TCN for a preview game of our first round of tournaments, and they came fired up and ready to play. Sophomore Lillian Cordle struck first for the Lady Blazers off a great ball from Freshman Maria Sorice who had her first game back after her concussion. Lillian took control of the ball from Maria and played it around the defender to find the back of the net. The panthers evened out the game and we stayed at a 1-1 tie for a lot of the game. With just over 14 minutes left to play in the second half Senior Megan Irvin took a shot from the corner that curved in perfectly to put the Lady Blazer ahead 2-1.
Every player on the field dug deep to keep that lead until the final horn sounded. Defensively Seniors Taryn Rucci and Josie Stiner, along with Sophomore Ollie Mason held down the defensive line. Being down 2 players this game due to illness a lot of girls had to move around the field to help secure the win. Senior Hannah Henderson and Sophomore Lillian Cordle played their time back on defense to help maintain our lead. The middle of the field consisting of Sophomore Olivia Day and Senior Belle Anderson and many others throughout the game, helped give the Lady Blazers advantages to take shots at the goal. Freshman Bre Leal had a wonderful game tonight show casing her speed as an attacker, while she couldn't find the back of the net tonight, she has come so far in her first season playing soccer, and I am confident she will find that goal before the end of the season. We proved tonight that when we play together as a team and with heart our skill always shines through. We will travel to Dixie on Thursday for our last conference game of the season.
