The blazers raced in the Blackhawk Invitational hosted by Mississinawa Valley at Chenoweth Trails. The course was challenging; full of hills and trails. This didn’t stop some of the blazers from running their best times of the season.
The high school girls came out ready to race, both crossing the finish line with new season bests! Sydney Whalen cut off 30 seconds and finished the 5k in 9th with a time of 24:04.1. Kira Rutan was close behind finishing 11th in 24:44.3. Kira cut about a whole minute off of her time!
The high school boys ran strong races to place 3rd as a team, placing behind Ansonia and Arcanum. Tucker Denlinger lead the boys with a 2nd place finish in 17:52.1, a new PR. Braydan Lee placed 10th and ran a new season PR of 19:33.5. Jackson Johnson placed 17th with a 20:36.6. Bryce Couvutsakis placed 24th with a 21:32.8. Merek Mumm rounded out the team scoring with a 41st place, running a 25:55.2.
Junior high girls raced next, running a strong race while accidentally being sent on a longer course. Their times do not reflect how well they ran. Ioma Alavez started the race in 5th place and worked her way up to a 1st place finish! Maddison Loranzan placed 9th. Both girls had a great top 10 finish and ran smart races.
Preston Barnes finished up the races for the day by finishing 5th place. Preston also ran a great strategic race.
6 out of the 10 Blazers got medals for their races.
We had many of our elementary runners at the race and they all did great!
The teams will race next weekend at the Eaton Invitational at Fort St Clair on Saturday, September 14th.
