On Saturday the Lady Blazers Soccer team travel to Northeastern Ohio for our first away game of the season. After losing their first game 3-1 against the Indians the team came back more focused and ready to play. The goal was to win more balls out of the air, and the ladies showed their strength in that area, they came away winning 90% of the free played balls. That proved to be beneficial for the team allowing them to take 27 shots on goal. Freshman Maria Sorice scored her first career varsity goal to give the team the early lead. Northeaster fought back and ended up scoring two goals (one on a PK), putting them up 2-1. The Lady Blazers never let off the pressure and eventually were able to tie up the game on a corner kick. Lillian Cordle picked up her second assist on the season with a beautiful ball right in front of the net to Senior Megan Irvin who was able to head the ball into the goal.
Freshman Taylor Reynolds played her first game in goal and had a great showing. She ended the game with 9 saves and took great leadership over the defense.
We are back in action Tuesday for another conference match against TVS.
