The National Trail Blazers traveled to Browns Run golf course to take part in the Middletown Christian invitational today and came away with a 4th place finish. This invitational has some of the top division 2 and division 3 teams in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas compete in a very fun and competitive tournament. This year was no different as some of the top division 2 teams in the Southwest district took home the top 2 spots.
The Trail boys faced adversity today, as the top 3 spots in our lineup struggled to keep the ball in position off the tee and missed more short putts than normal. They continued to persevere and made a nice rally on our last 9 holes to come back from being in 7th position at one point on the front 9, to finishing in 4th.
Junior Kellen Laird again paced the team scoring with 79, good for 11th place. Senior Justin Turner followed with an 82 - his lowest score of the season to date. Freshman Josh Brubaker battled through some putting woes to card an 83, and senior Aidan Koehl finished with an 84 to round out the scoring. Senior Nick Brubaker came in 5th with an 86, which was needed to break a tie for 4th place, and freshman Christian Rutan came in with a 93.
Trail will continue another busy week of golf tomorrow at Highland when Fort Recovery comes for our first dual match of the year.
