The National Trail boys golf team hosted the Blazer Invite today at Highland Lake golf course. 12 teams participated, including a varsity and JV team from Trail. The Blazers came out on top with a 10-shot victory over defending champ Talawanda. The JV team was able to come in 11th place.
Junior Kellen Laird was able to hold off the rest of the field and took home medalist honors for the tournament. This was Kellen’s first individual tournament victory. Freshman Josh Brubaker continued his hot start to the season finishing second overall on the team and for the tournament, firing a 78. Senior Nick Brubaker overcame a tough start to finish strong and come in T-4 with an 80. Senior Justin Turner rounded out the varsity scoring with an 85 - good for 12th place individually. Senior Aidan Koehl came in with a solid 90 and freshman Wyatt Gebhart shot 91.
For the JV team, freshman Christian Rutan led the scoring with a 93, junior Sawyer Davies shot 96, sophomore Charlie Cummings shot 107, and Jackson Skinner finished at 119 for the JV scoring. All those scores were the best competitive scores for each player in the National Trail program.
That finished up a busy week where the boys won 3 tournaments and placed 2nd in one! We will continue the season next week taking part in the Middletown Christian Invitational at Browns Run golf course.
