The varsity boys golf team started their season yesterday in the Talawanda Invitational played at Hueston Woods golf course. The tournament is broke up into two divisions, one with big schools and one with smaller schools. The Blazers finished 2nd in the small school division, falling 3 shots short of the winner. Overall we finished 6th out of 26 teams.
Trail was led by senior Nick Brubaker who shot a 77 and finished 8th place overall. Junior Kellen Laird and freshman Josh Brubaker tied with an 80, and senior Justin Turner rounded out the balanced scoring with an 85. Not scoring for Trail were freshmen Wyatt Gebhart (90) and Christian Rutan (97).
It was a long, hot, and slow day on the course. The boys did a great job bouncing back from mistakes and showing the focus needed to play high-level golf.
The Blazers return to action on Monday to take part in the Preble County Tournament - where we are the three-time defending champions!
