Timely hitting by the visiting Newton Indians contributed to their 12-1 victory. The game remained
close through the first four innings Newton plated 2 in the first, then the Blazer defense stiffened
and held them to a single run in the 3 rd . Trail crossed the plate in the 4 th when Miya Ditmer led off
with a double then later scored on a Miranda Ott single.
Newton increased their lead with 2 runs in the 5 th followed by seven more in the final two frames.
In the meantime, the Blazers stranded runners in multiple innings. The big defensive play for
Newton was a leaping catch of a line drive with the bases loaded that ended with a triple play to
snuff out a big Trail scoring threat.
It was the final home game for seniors Alyssa Ibarra, Miya Ditmer, and Jaleah Coffey.
