GIRLS HS TRACK WINS BLAZER INVITATIONAL, BOYS SECOND.

Girls HS Track wins Blazer Invitational, Boys second.
National Trail High School Track teams hosted Carlisle, Troy Christian, Tri-Village, Preble Shawnee, and Dixie at the Blazer Invitational on April 19th, 2024. The Lady Blazers edged out Tri-Village 123 to 122, while the Blazer boys fell short of Dixie by only 8 points 141 to 133.
The Lady Blazers scored in every event contested on the Track in the meet!
The 4 x 800 Meter relay team of Molli Deaton, Jocelyn Osborne, Sydney Whalen, and Judith Denlinger got the Lady Blazers off to a great start with a big win on the track. In the 100 Meter Hurdles, Megan Irvin set a new Personal best and Placed 4th. Jaylin Hurd and Evie Hoffman finished 5th and 6th in the 100 Meter Dash.
Then, the 4 x 200 Meter Relay of Ollie Mason, Hoffman, Gretchen Murphy, and Hannah Henderson finished 2nd. Whalen and Denlinger then finished 2nd and 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run. The 4x100 Relay team of Mason, Hoffman, Irvin, and Hurd were 3rd. Deaton finished 5th in the 400 meter Dash.
The Lady Blazers had 3 scorers in the 300 meter hurdles. Irvin was 2nd, Mason 4th, and Olivia Day was 5th.
Gretchen Murphy got the Lady Blazers back in action in the 800 Meter Run, finishing 1st. Henderson was 2nd in the 200 meter dash, and then Whalen and Denlinger followed with a 1st and 2nd in the 3200 meter run.
In the final event on the Track, the 4 x 400 meter team of Murphy, Irvin, Deaton, and Henderson won with a time of 4:44.83, finishing the meet the way it started with a relay victory.
In the field, Kaitlyn Schweizer was 2nd in the Discus with a new Personal best throw of 93’ 0.5”and 4th in the Shot Put. To round out the scoring Henderson was 2nd in the long Jump.
The High School Boys scored points in every event they entered on Friday night.
Jody Wintrow and Matthew Scott were the first to score for the Blazers finishing 2nd and 4th in the 100 meter dash. Wintrow, along with Korbin Sullivan, Jonah Brinkley, and Tayten Reynolds were the winners of the 4 x 200 Meter relay. Tucker Denlinger finished 3rd in the 1600, and then Wintrow, Liam Conway, Brinkley and Scott won the 4 x 100 meter relay. The next event on the track was the 400 meter dash. All 3 entered in the event scored. In an extremely tight finish, Jamison Watts, competing in his first track meet, ran 53.90 to finish first, edging out Tayten Reynolds who ran a personal best of 54.02 and finished 2nd. Korbin Sullivan also ran a personal best of 56.21 and finished 4th.
In the 300 hurdles, Leland Miller and Brian Toschlog finished 5th and 6th for the Blazers. Denlinger finished 2nd in the 800 Meter Run. This brought Watts and Reynolds back to the track for a rematch in the 200 Meter Dash. Along with Jonah Brinkley, the race didn’t disappoint. Watts again won with Reynolds in 4th and Brinkley in 6th. Braydan Lee then finished 4th in the 3200 Meter with Denlinger close behind in 5th. In the final event on the track, the Blazers couldn’t quite hang on for the victory, the 4 x 400 relay team of Sullivan, Watts, Reynolds, and Josh Welz finished 2nd to end the night.
In the field, Wintrow and Scott finished 3rd and 4th in the Long Jump, Welz and Lee finished 2nd and 3rd in the Pole Vault, and Watts was 4th in the High Jump. Welz also took 6th in the Discus throw and Killian O’Connor was 4th in the Shot Put.

The Blazer Track Teams for the 3rd meet straight when they host Eaton, Twin Valley South, Tri-County North, and Preble Shawnee at the Preble County meet on Tuesday April 23rd. This will be the high school track team’s final home meet of the season. Field events will begin at 4:30 with running events beginning at 5:00.
