HS Track improves at Durkle Invitational
The Blazer Varsity Track Teams competed Friday April 12th at Twin Valley South in the Fred Durkle Invitational. While the conditions weren’t much improved from their first meet, and the competition was tough, many of the Blazers ran/jumped/threw season’s best marks/times.
The girls finished 11th out of 14 teams scoring 14 Points.
Scoring for the Lady Blazers were:
Hannah Henderson was 5th in the Long Jump with a season’s best jump of 15’ 6.25”.
Judith Denlinger finished 6th in the 3200 cutting 20 seconds off her time at Dixie to finish at 14:39.10
Sidney Whalen was 7th in the 1600 with a season’s best time of 6:43.93
The 4 x 400 meter relay team (Taryn Rucci, Megan Irvin, Gretchen Murphy, and Henderson) also showed improvement and finished 6th.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team (Whalen, Denlinger, Rucci, and Jocelyn Osborne) rounded out the scoring with a 7th place finish.
The boys finished 12th out of 15 teams with 19 team points. The majority of the points came from the field events. Josh Welz was the highest placer of the day with a 3rd place finish in the Discus throw. Josh recorded a new Personal Record of 123’ 3”. Killian O’Connor finished 4th in the Shot Put with a toss of 45’ 3”, also a new PR. Matthew Scott leaped 18’ 8”, bettering his PR by over 2 feet and finished 8th in the Long Jump.
On the track, Tayten Reynolds finished 7th in the 400 and 8th in the 200. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Reynolds, Jonah Brinkley, Jody Wintrow, and Korbin Sullivan finished 5th with a time of 1:38.45 .

The Blazers look to keep improving when they host their first meet of the season on Tuesday April 16th. Field events begin at 4:30 with running events starting at 5pm with Tri-Village and Brookville in attendance.
