8TH GRADE LADY BLAZERS BEAT MISS. VALLEY

8th Grade Lady Blazers beat Miss. Valley
The Lady Blazers came away with a conference win this morning improving their record to 7-2 (9-5 overall). They controlled the tempo of the game from the beginning winning all four quarters with a final score of 26-17.
The defense again had a huge game today coming away with 17 total team steals. Bre (6) Taylor (2) Eva (3) Sammy (3) and 7th grader Kinley with 3. Kira, Audrey and Haven played great help side defense allowing their teammates to come away with those steals. They handled the Blackhawks full court and half court press with precision allowing for easy baskets under the hoop.
Haven scored her first points of the season with a buzzer beater right before half time, and almost added another bucket before the end of the game. Sammy led the team with 9 points going 75% from the charity strip. Despite having an ankle injury Taylor contributed 6 points. Bre added 5 of her own with many assists to her teammates. Eva played one of her best games under the basket, coming away with 4 points and 8 total rebounds, but her presence allowed for other scoring opportunities for the team.
This team continues to improve every game, but their ability to work together and for each other is what continues to impress me. We have our final conference game Monday at one against Newton, and then it is on to tournaments.
