The 8th grade boys scored a big win on Saturday against a very strong Mississinawa Valley team, winning by a score of 27-21. The Blazers found themselves behind, 21-19, with a little over 3 minutes to go and locked in to score the final 8 points of the game.
Westin Lipps had a tremendous game, scoring 14 points and grabbing 6 rebounds and guarding one of the best post players in the conference. Josh Brubaker scored 3 points and added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Brubaker was switched defensively to a tough assignment with Bousman in foul trouble early and played fantastic. Carson Laubenstien was forced into action early because of the same foul situation and played very solid, tallying 4 rebounds and an assist in the first half alone to keep the Blazers afloat until halftime.
Bousman ended with 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. He recorded multiple steals and forced turnovers in the final quarter.
Mason Cordle kept control of the pace at point guard and although he did not feature prominently in the shooting, he showed he could manage a slower game pace and lead the offense effectively. Cordle made 4 free throws on 4 attempts in the fourth quarter to help ice the game.
Wyatt Gebhart and Coltin Lipps both played very well and unselfishly spelled each other and kept fresh legs on the floor.
The win is the Blazers 4th in a row and their 10th of the season. They are now 10-4 (8-1, WOAC).
