The Lady Blazers played their best defensive game of the season in a 39-10 rout of the Lincoln Golden Eagles Tuesday night. After holding their opponent scoreless in the first quarter, Trail went into halftime with a commanding 16-4 lead but weren’t content to rest on their laurels in the second half. Already one of the top defensive teams in the area, the Lady Blazers frustrated Lincoln all evening with their suffocating team defense, and the dominant victory brings Trail back to a .500 record (5-5 overall) as they prepare to face Arcanum in a WOAC matchup Thursday night (JV tips at 6 PM with a 2-quarter game). Senior Kendyl Johnson led the way with 14 points, while Juniors Hannah Henderson and Josie Stiner contributed seven. Sophomores Morgan House had four and Ollie Mason, two. Freshman Peyton White played important minutes and scored five fourth quarter points, blocked shots, and rebounded effectively to seal the Lady Blazer victory. Junior Belle Anderson also played key minutes throughout the game, securing critical rebounds and playing tremendous help defense in support of her teammates.

JV lost by three in their 2-quarter matchup, but set an important tone for the Varsity matchup with their effort and energy on the defensive end. Down a key player due to injury (Freshman Lillian Cordle), the remaining squad is growing by leaps and bounds under the direction of Coach Garrett Denlinger. Freshmen Chloe Graves, Claire Osswald, Adley O’Conner, Brooklyn Cheek, join with White and Anderson to round out the ever-improving squad.
