The 8th grade Lady Blazers started off 2024 with a conference win over Preble Shawnee to move them to 3-1 in the WOAC. Despite struggling from the line as a team, they outscored the Arrows 9-0 in the 4th quarter. Great defense by the entire team lead to 22 team steals. Bre had 10, Taylor with 7, Eva came up big late in the 4th with 3 steals, and Kira rounded out the team with 2.
The Lady Blazers are learning to use the clock to their advantage, and it is proving to help them to victories. Eva was the leading scorer for the team with 9 points. Bre and Sammy both contributed 5, Audrey made her shot and went 1-1 from the line. Taylor rounded out the scoring with a foul shot. The defense was the biggest key to this game. They were done by 1 point with just a little over 3 minutes left on the clock. The ladies applied great pressure to the Arrows to come up with steals that led to easy baskets. An all-around great game by all the players.
We will be back in action Saturday from another conference game against TVS.
