BOYS GET FIRST HOME WIN OF THE SEASON

Trail needed overtime to defeat a hot shooting Mississinawa Valley team, 67-62 on Tuesday night. The Blazers forced OT on a Logan Smith free throw with 1 second in regulation after the Blackhawks took the lead with a jumper in the final seconds. In overtime, a clutch Tayden Blevins three point play and timely free throw shooting lead to the victory. The team was a stellar 23-25 from the foul line, which made up for a lackluster defensive effort in the second half and cold shooting from deep the entire game. Logan Smith had his career high 28 points, with an impressive 11-12 from the foul line. Kellen Laird had 14 points despite a cold shooting night, and was 4-4 from the line in OT. Tayden Blevins pitched in 11 points and continues to rebound at a high level. Blevins was perfect from the foul line, going 7-7 from the charity stripe. Nick Brubaker hit a second half three and had 7 points in the 2nd half. Tyler Lesh had two key fast break baskets and Ethan Osswald scored an important second half basket, finishing with 2 points. Jonah Brinkley, playing his first significant varsity action, did a solid job on Blackhawk leading scorer, senior Aaron Hunt, holding Hunt to 4 points while Brinkley was in the game.
The team moves to 2-1 in the WOAC and plays two more games this weekend.
