FOOTBALL FALLS TO MILTON UNION 27-12 IN SEASON OPENER

The National Trail varsity football team opened the 2023 season with a hard fought road loss to Milton Union 27-12. The Blazers moved the football up and down the field in the first half but couldn't get in the endzone and trailed 14-0 at halftime.

NT took the 2nd half kickoff and marched 75 yards and scored their first TD of the season on a 13 yard pass from Jamison Watts to Joey Roberts. Roberts made a spectacular catch with a Milton Union player hanging all over him, making the score 14-6. NT got a 4th quarter touchdown when Chase Ruebush out raced everyone to pay dirt on his 67 yard run to the end zone.

Statistically the Blazers had two 100+ yard rushers, Chase Ruebush with 146 and Jamison Watts with 108. Joey Roberts led the team with 3 receptions. Defensively Cooper Lee led the way with 10 tackles followed by Gavin Vance and Brady Thompson with 9 each.

The Blazers fall to 0-1 on the season and open WOAC conference play next Friday when they host Tri County North.
