BLAZERS WIN DISTRICT TITLE

The National Trail Blazers boys golf team participated in the OHSAA division 3 Southwest district tournament today at Heatherwoode golf course and came away as district champions!
The district tournament includes the top 12 teams and top 12 individuals from the three sectional tournaments. In a very strong Southwest district field, the Blazers were paired with the Seven Hills and Russia teams that were battling with Trail for the top two spots that advance to the state tournament. The Trail boys stepped up to hold on to a one shot victory that secured our third consecutive trip to the state tournament.
Trail was led by junior Josh Brubaker who shot 73 and finished as the individual runner-up for the tournament. Junior Wyatt Gebhart also played well and finished with an 82 - a 12th place finish. Freshman Gavyn Guthrie fired an 87 and junior Christian Rutan rounded out the scoring with an 88 to complete the 330 team score. Senior Charlie Cummings overcame some early adversity to shoot 92 and give us some cushion in case of a tie.
Trail now heads back to the state tournament at Northstar golf club from October 11-13. The 36 hole tournament will conclude our season for the third straight year.
