National Trail Varsity Football put together a strong performance Friday, September 11, scoring 20 first-quarter points and taking a 27–0 lead into halftime on the way to a 40–0 conference victory over Mississinawa Valley.
Kaili Merritt led the offense with 163 rushing yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, including a 93-yard run. He also completed five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Jonah Brinkley contributed 62 yards and a touchdown on the ground, along with three catches for 65 yards and another score.
The defense added points of its own, with Jason Lofton and Henry Roberts each returning an interception for a touchdown. Christian Miears led Trail with 13 tackles, followed by Grady Ott with nine. Brinkley recorded a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss, while Miears added two tackles for loss. Killian Brewer contributed four extra points.
