National Trail Varsity Blazers Loses Despite Taking a Lead Into the Last Inning

National Trail Varsity Blazers fell 8-4 to Twin Valley South on Tuesday despite holding a 4-3 lead entering the last. Leal led National Trail Varsity Blazers with two hits.
Twin Valley South got on the board in the top of the first inning after Wampler singled to center field, and Day was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
National Trail Varsity Blazers tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to an error, and a single by Laird.
A sacrifice fly by Clark gave National Trail Varsity Blazers the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth.
Twin Valley South flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Miller earned the win for Twin Valley South. The starter allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out 15 and walking two. Leal took the loss for National Trail Varsity Blazers. The hurler went six and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out eight and walking four.
Leal, Clark, and Laird each drove in one run for National Trail Varsity Blazers. Leal, Coffey, and Laird each stole multiple bases for National Trail Varsity Blazers. National Trail Varsity Blazers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.
Wampler drove the middle of the lineup, leading Twin Valley South with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
