NT Baseballs Wins 11-1 in Five

National Trail Varsity Blazers defeated Fairlawn 11-1 on Friday thanks in part to six runs in the fifth inning. Matt Jones singled, scoring one run, Nick Clark homered to left field, scoring two runs, a wild pitch scored one run, Mason Leal lined out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

National Trail Varsity Blazers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Grady Ott flew out, Kellen Laird flew out, and National Trail Varsity Blazers scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

A walk by Mason Cordle extended the National Trail Varsity Blazers lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning.

A ground out by Clark extended the National Trail Varsity Blazers lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning.

Andrew Hamm earned the win for National Trail Varsity Blazers. The southpaw gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Maddox Abke took the loss for Fairlawn. The hurler went four innings, surrendering seven runs (four earned) on two hits, striking out six and walking five.

Clark led National Trail Varsity Blazers with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Jones, Clark, and Laird each collected one hit for National Trail Varsity Blazers. Carson Laubenstein paced National Trail Varsity Blazers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Braylon Coffey and Laird each stole multiple bases for National Trail Varsity Blazers. National Trail Varsity Blazers stole six bases in the game.
