NT BOYS SPLIT THE WEEKEND

The Boys Varsity Basketball Team split the weekend going 1-1. Friday night we traveled to Hoosier Gym to take on conference foe Tri-County North. It was a foul riddled game with a lot of points put up. The boys won a tight one 73-68 to win their conference opener.

Tayden Blevins and Kellen Laird led the way offensively with 23 points each with Tayden adding 6 rebounds and Kellen grabbing 8 rebounds as well. Coltin Lipps turned in a solid performance chipping in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Mason Cordle finished with 5 points as well as Josh Brubaker with 5 points and Talon Bousman hit a big 3 as well. Westin Lipps saw his first Varsity action of the season knocked down 4 free throws and played good defense. The score doesn't indicate it but several Blazers played great defense on the night including Cordle, Bousman, and Lipps. At the start of the 4th quarter TCN's leading scorer had been giving NT fits all night so Josh Brubaker was assigned to face guard and deny him the ball. Josh held him scoreless in the 4th quarter to help slow down TCN's offense.

The Blazers were back in action against Saturday afternoon at home against Brookville. Brookville is a solid team and proved too much for the Blazers and handed them their first loss of the season 63-42. The Blazers fought hard and subsequently ran out of gas in the 4th quarter to keep pace with Brookville's attack. This game was a good early season test that taught the boys and the coaches a few lessons we will take into this coming week as we prepare for big conference games this Friday at Bradford, next Tuesday against MV, and then we travel to Preble Shawnee next Friday.
