The JV opened Friday night with county foe, the Eaton Eagles and suffered a 21 point loss with the final being 61-40. The Eagles outmatched the Blazers with experience, execution, and overall toughness after a 1 point deficit at half-time. The Blazers were led in scoring by K. Culbertson - 17, W. Lipps - 10, A. Sparks - 5, G. Ott - 4, S. Alavez - 2, C. Bond and L. Thomas - 1 point each.
The JV responded to the defensive challenge set by the coaching staff after giving up 60+ opening night and secured their first win of the season Saturday night vs a scrappy Talawanda team. Blazers played hard and controlled the game in the first half with a 30-15 halftime lead. Talawanda applied some pressure to close the gap and made a tremendous effort to cut the deficit, but in the end the Blazers stood victorious with a 51-46 win. Scoring was led by K. Culbertson - 18, W. Lipps - 7, L. Thomas - 6, A. Sparks and G. Ott - 5, S. Alavez - 4, D. Osswald, L. Davis, C, and C. Bond - 2 points each.
The JV boys will be back in action this week three times.
