The National Trail boys golf team participated in the Sectional tournament today at Turtle Creek golf course. The boys got off to a blistering start by shooting a 157 on the back nine - which is by far the tougher side of the course. The boys came in with 162 on the front nine for a 319 total and a 25 stroke victory over 2nd place Covington.
The Blazers were led by senior Kellen Laird who shot 73 and won the individual sectional championship. Sophomore Josh Brubaker fired a 79 to finish runner up individually. Sophomore Christian Rutan shot 83 and finished 4th overall individually. Senior Sawyer Davies rounded out the scoring with an 84 to finish 6th overall individually. Sophomore Wyatt Gebhart shot 90 in the non-scoring spot.
Trail earned a spot in the District tournament Monday at Pipestone golf course where the top two teams earn a spot in the State Tournament.
