The cross country teams took on a challenging course at Preble Shawnee for the Preble County Championships. The junior high medalists were Wyatt Overly, Emmett Jacob, and Maddison Loranzan. The junior high boys were scored using modified scoring, allowing them to be named Preble County Champions!
The high school medalists were Tucker Denlinger, Sydney Whalen, Ioma Alavez, and Kira Rutan- making them part of the county team. The girls were also scored using modified scoring to be Preble County Runner-Ups. The ladies lost to Eaton 25 to 38.
*Modified scoring is used to allow all schools to score as a team. 5 runners make a full team. A “ghost” runner is placed in last place and that last place is added to the team score. Lowest score wins. We are very impressed with our junior high boys being the champions considering the ghost runners were 30 of their points! The high school girls ghost runners contributed about 20 points.
