The high school cross country teams ran their first 5k of the season in West Milton at the Bob Schul Invitational. This invitational is one of the largest and most competitive races the teams will see this year.
High schools boys competed in the division 3/4 race- consisting of 317 runners. Tucker Denlinger received a medal with 16th place, running a 17:33.2. Bryce Couvutsakis and Preston Barnes ran a tight race finishing in a 20:34.2 and 20:39.2. Merek Mumm ran a 22:26.4- only 12 seconds from his all time PR!
The high school girls competed in the division 3/4 race that consisted of 225 runners. All 3 girls ran in the top half of the competitors (impressive work)! Syndey Whalen crossed the line in 56th place with the a 22:59.5. Ioma Alavez ran her first 5k in 23:47.5 to finish 78th. Kira Rutan finished in 103rd with a 24:42.4.
Junior high girls ran against all divisions for their 2 mile race that had 325 competitors. Maddison Loranzan finished in a 18:29.8, Dalila Alavez ran a 19:53.1, and Myka Smith ran a 25:52.2. All 3 girls added a little bit of time from last week but hoping for some PRs next week!
Junior high boys had the largest race of the day, competing against 420 runners amongst all divisions. Wyatt Overley placed 58th in a 13:10.0- cutting about 50 seconds from his time on Tuesday! Emmett Jacob finished the course in 15:10.4- cutting a little over a minute from his time on Tuesday! Levi Saylor finished our day off with another PR! Levi finished the race in a 20:12.0- cutting about a minute and a half off his previous time.
Elementary had their first race today to set the tone for their season.
Cross country races at the Preble County Championship at Preble Shawnee on Tuesday.
