The Lady Blazer MS volleyball teams split their matches at Ansonia Thursday evening, with 7th grade winning in two and 8th grade losing in 2.
The 7th grade team earned their first win behind strong serving, winning 25-20 and 25-12. Leaders on the night were serving: Jessa Barnes (11 points, 8 aces) and Haven Ruebush (5 points and 4 aces); kills: Jessa Barnes (1 kill). The stats don’t tell the whole story, as this was a complete team effort for all 6 girls on the floor who played the entire game.
The 8th grade team struggled to start the match. However, they rebounded behind some strong serving in game two. The leaders on the night were serving: Leiloni Davis (5 points) and Chloie Unger (2 points); aces: Leiloni Davis (5) and Mya Martin and Chloie Unger (1 each); kills: Zoey Jordan (2) and Paelyn Hembree and Millie Brinkley each had 1.
Short rest for the teams as they host Northridge on Saturday morning for an 8th grade only game starting at 10:00am.
