Girls HS Track win Blazer Invitational, Boys finish third.
On Friday April 25th the High School Boys and Girls Track teams hosted Tri-Village, Dixie, Union County (IN), and Troy Christian High Schools for the Blazer Invitational. The Girls team, who was the 2024 Blazer Invitational Champions, repeated that feat in 2025. The boys came up short against stiff competition and finished 3rd.

The girls were led on the track by the distance runners. Sydney Whalen won the 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter runs with Kira Rutan finishing second in the 1600 and 3200. Madi Mann finished third in the 1600. Other event winners were Ollie Mason in the 300 Hurdles, Kaitlyn Schweizer in the Discus, and the 4x800 Relay team of Rutan, Natalie Blumenstock, Hailey Dane, and Taygen Toothman. The Lady Blazers Also had second place finishes out of Rae Brodie in the Shot Put, Schweizer in the Pole Vault, and the 4x400 Relay team of Taryn Rucci, Hallie Rogers, Madi Mann, and Maria Sorice. The team managed to score points in every event at the meet to secure the repeat first place finish.

The boys had a good night on the track, but came in third to two very strong teams in Tri-Village and Dixie. The Blazers won every relay they competed in on the night and were just seconds or less from breaking school records in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 team consisted of Colt Foster, Talon Bousman, Korbin Sullivan, and Jody Wintrow. The 4x200 team was Foster, Wintrow, Sullivan, and Tayten Reynolds. The 4x400 team was again Bousman, Reynolds, Sullivan, and then Jonah Brinkley. Reynolds also finished 1st in the 400 with a time of 42.95 going under the 43 second mark for the first time in the event. Logan Riesenbeck won the Pole Vault with a height of 10-0, a season’s best for him in the event. Similar to the girls, the boys also scored points in every event they competed in.
