NT HIGH SCHOOL TRACK ATTENDS FRED DURKLE INVITATIONAL

NT High School Track attends Fred Durkle Invitational
On Thursday April 17th, the boys and girls track teams traveled to Twin Valley South for the annual “Fred Durkle Invitational”. The “Durkle” is the biggest invitational that the NT track teams attend and the competition is some of the best they will see until the district meet.

The girls team was competitive, but struggled to score points in the talented field. Sydney Whalen ran a new Personal best in the 3200 meter run of 13:41.01 and the 4 x 100 relay of Annabelle Mackie, Megan Irvin, Hannah Henderson, and Ollie Mason ran a season’s best time of 56.86. Both the 4 x 100 relay and Sydney in the 3200 finished 8th overall and were the only scorers on the night.

The boys finished 10th overall with 23 points. The sprint relays led the scoring with the 4x100 team of Talon Bousman, Colt Foster, Jody Wintrow, and Jonah Brinkley finishing second. The 4x200 relay of Foster, Brinkley, Wintrow, and Korbin Sullivan again flirted with the school record in the event and finished 3rd. In the individual events, Tucker Denlinger finished 5th in the 3200 Meter Run and 8th in the 1600 Meter Run. Korbin Sullivan ran a new personal best of 54.37 in the 400 Meter dash and finished 8th. In the field events, Josh Brubaker jumped a new personal best in the long jump of 18-9 and finished 8th. Killian O’Connor rounded out the scoring for the Blazers with a 7th place finish in the Shot Put.

The Blazers get some well needed rest and will take to the track again on Friday April 25th when they host the Blazer invitational. Field events begin at 4:30.
