On Monday April 14th, the Blazer boys and girls HS track teams traveled to Eaton High School for the Eaton Relay meet. This meet is different from normal track meets because every event is treated as a relay. In events such as hurdles, throws, and jumps, the top two participants from your school are added together to make a total time. Another addition to this meet was the ability to run a “B” team in some events in a separate heat. Competing at this meet was National Trail, Eaton, Valley View, Twin Valley South, Carlisle, Oakwood, and Talawanda. Competition was tough, but the Trail track teams took advantage of some nicer weather and started lowering times on the track.
The highest finishing relay on the day was the 4 x 100 B relay of Madi Mann, Willow Welz, Olivia Day, and Hallie Rogers finishing 2nd. The girls team finished 7th in the team standings with 41 total team points.
The boys highest finisher was also the 4x100 B relay. Jalen Ditto, Jody Wintrow, Korbin Sullivan, and Josh Brubaker won their race and beat some of the 4x100 A relay teams. One other notable finish was the 4x200 A relay of Colt Foster, Jody Wintrow, Tayten Reynolds, and Jonah Brinkley. They finished 2nd, but ran a 1:35.12, only 0.01 seconds from tying the school record in the event.
As a team, the boys finished 6th, scoring 59.5 points.
