At what seemed to be a preview of the WOAC meet, with most of the conference schools attending, the Blazer Boys and Girls Track Teams traveled to Dixie HS for the Greyhound Invitational on Friday April 11th. Continuing the trend of this spring, the weather was not ideal, but the Blazer track teams mostly powered through the conditions to have a good showing.
The Girls leading scorer for the meet was Ollie Mason. Ollie finished 4th in the 300 Hurdles, 6th in the 100 Hurdles, and was on the 5th place 4 x 200 Relay team along with Hannah Henderson, Annabelle Mackie, and Evie Hoffman. Henderson also finished 4th in the Long Jump.
Sydney Whalen ran a new personal best in the 3200 Meter run of 13:52.70 to finish 4th in the event.
While the boys didn’t have any event winners, they did have one Medalist (Top 3) on the night. Killian O’Connor threw a new personal best in the shot put of 46-0.25 to finish 3rd. Tayten Reynolds and Josh Brubaker finished 6th and 7th in the Long Jump while Tucker Denlinger finished 8th in the High Jump.
On the track, The highest finisher was the boys 4 x 200 Relay (4th). Denlinger finished 5th in the 1600 Meter Run and Jalen Ditto finished 5th in the 300 Hurdles with a new personal best of 45.82. Colt Foster finished 5th in the Open 200 and 8th in the 100 Meter Dash. Korbin Sullivan finished 6th in the 400 Meter Dash. The 4 x 800 Relay and 4 x 400 Relays both finished 7th.
When the final scores were tallied. The Girls scored 22 points and placed 12th out of 15 and the Boys finished 7th with 37 Points.
The Boys and Girls Track teams are back in action Monday night when they travel to Eaton for the Eaton Relays. All events contested on Monday will be a relay. The meet begins with a Throwers 4x100 relay at 4:30.
