On Friday February 14th the Boys traveled to the Hanger to take on the Jets of Franklin Monroe. The Jets were ranked 2nd in the WOAC and play a stout defense. The game started off fast paced and the Blazers were quickly overcome by the Jets full court pressure. The Jets forced the Blazer to commit 25 total turnovers and with the limited possessions the Blazer struggled to score on the offensive end. When we were able to not allow the Jets out in transition, we were able to play solid half-court defense. The Blazers fell 58-31. Tayden Blevins finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds, Kellen Laird added 6 points and 4 assists, Talon Bousman had 5 points, and Nick Brubaker, Jonah Brinley, and Lucas Alexander all chipped in 2 points. The highlight of the game was Josh Osswald was able to score his first points of the season on a great post move and the knocked down a jump shot while getting fouled to end the game with 4 points.
On Saturday February 15th the Boys traveled to Milton Union for the regular season finale. It was Milton Unions Senior night. The boys came out ready to play and won the first quarter 8-4. The second quarter was up and down for the Blazers, and we went into halftime down 23-22. After some adjustments and some refocus at halftime, the Blazers came out and played a nice 3rd quarter. At the end of 4 it was all tied up and everyone got a treat of extra basketball on this rainy evening in February. The Blazers came out and played well scoring 9 in OT to Milton's 2 to secure the win. Kellen Laird had a nice night finishing with 20 points, 4 of 7 from three, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, Brancin Mowen played a stellar game in his best action of the season finishing with 15 points, 5 of 8 from the field and 3-6 from three and had a pivotal 1 on 3 stop on a fast break on defense. Tayden Blevins finished with 6 points and chased around the best shooter for Milton Union, Ethan Osswald had 4 points, Daniel Turpin finished with 3 points, and Lucas Alexander played great defense and knocked down a free throw. Korbin Sullivan played great defense chasing around the leading scorer for Milton Union for his time. Mason Cordle and Talon Bousman both made huge free throws in OT to seal a Blazers victory. A great team win on both offense and defense to end the regular season.
The Boys JV B is back in action in the WOAC Championship Game on 2-18-2025 at TCN starting at 5:30pm. The Boys' Varsity is set to square off with Anna at Troy HS on February 21, 2025, at 7:30pm. We hope to see all the Blazer faithful out supporting these amazing young men.
